Oxfordshire biker's death 'should not deter' riders

The father of a man killed in a motorcycle accident has said his son's death should not prevent people riding.

Mike Embling from Didcot lost his son Grant in 2006 when a car overtaking a lorry collided with him.

He spoke in support of Oxfordshire County Council's annual motorbike safety campaign.

Mr Embling said: "You never get over it but I don't think it should stop people motorcycling because the same thing could happen in a car."

There were 212 motorcycle riders and pillion passengers injured in Oxfordshire in 2010. Nine were killed.

The total number of injuries has been decreasing every year since 2007.

Mr Embling said that things had got better but both car drivers and motorcyclists still needed training.
