A 44-year-old man has been found guilty of raping a woman in the toilets of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Ian Joseph, of no fixed abode, attacked the 22-year-old woman on 30 October last year and forced her to perform a sex act on him.

He had denied the charge but the jury at Oxford Crown Court returned a unanimous guilty verdict.

Joseph was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the same court at a later date.

Det Con Rob Barratt said: "I would like to commend the victim in this case for the bravery she has shown in coming forward and reporting this incident, and then standing up in court and giving live evidence.

"Incidents of this nature are rare and were committed by a predatory offender who has now been taken off of the city's streets."
