Boy, 16, arrested over Oxford sex attack

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman in Oxford.

The woman was pulled along Cowley Road and Divinity Road in the early hours of Saturday.

A passer-by heard the woman shouting and challenged the attacker, who then ran away. The helper stayed with the woman until police arrived.

The arrested teenager has been bailed until 7 July.

Det Con Simon Beaton, from Thames Valley police, appealed for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 0200 BST.

He said: "I would urge anyone who was out on the Cowley Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, who may have seen or heard anything relating to this incident, to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible."
