Eight held over Oxford cricket stab row
Eight people have been arrested after a man was repeatedly stabbed in a fight in Oxfordshire.
The victim had been playing cricket with a friend when a group of males, who he knew, approached them in Cowley Marsh Park, Oxford, on Monday night.
A fight broke out and the man sustained serious stab wounds. He is receiving treatment in hospital.
Four boys, three aged 17 and one 15, were arrested along with four men, two aged 18, one 21 and the other 24.
They are being questioned on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Det Insp Simon Morton said: "I know that there were people in the park at the time that would have seen what happened and will be able to assist us with our inquiries.
"I would urge these people to come forward and speak to us and help us with our investigation.
"I would also like to reassure local residents that we do not believe this was a random incident and that the victim was known to his attackers."
