Seven bailed over cricket stabbing in Oxford park

Three boys and four men have been arrested and bailed after a man was repeatedly stabbed while playing cricket in an Oxford park.

The victim was with a friend in Cowley Marsh Park when he got into a fight with a group of men.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital and later discharged.

Two 17 year olds, a 15 year old, two men aged 18 and two men aged 21 and 24 have been bailed on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Police made a total of eight arrests and released a 17 year old without charge.

Det Insp Simon Morton said: "I would like to reassure local residents that we do not believe this was a random incident and that the victim was known to his attackers."
