Man killed in Oxfordshire three-vehicle crash

A driver has been killed in a three-vehicle crash in Oxfordshire.

The man was driving a Vauxhall Meriva when it was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Vauxhall Movono van on the A40 at Barnard Gate.

The man, aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the Mercedes van was cut free by firefighters.

He was taken to hospital with leg injuries. The driver of the other van was not injured.

Road closures were put in place following the crash.

Incident commander station manager Paul Bremble said: "This was a concerted team effort by all services present who worked in difficult conditions to stabilise the incident and release the injured person.

"The force of the impact had significantly deformed the vehicle, crews worked well to release the casualty who was quickly removed and taken to hospital."
