Banbury alleyway sex attack on teenager

A teenage girl was sexually assaulted by a man as she stopped in an alleyway in Banbury.

The offender approached the 17-year-old from behind as she stopped in Tink-a-Tank alley, near High Street, then attacked her as she opened her bag.

He then grabbed the victim's arm but was chased off by a passer-by who heard her scream for help, police said.

The attacker has olive skin, is 6ft, of average build, and has short, dark hair and a beard on his chin and jaw-line.

He was wearing a short-sleeved top which had thin white and thick pink and blue/green horizontal stripes, dark jeans and he was carrying a black bag.

Pc Andy Baylis of Thames Valley Police, said: "Thankfully a member of the public intervened and the victim wasn't seriously hurt in this incident."

Anyone with information about the attack, which happened on the afternoon of Wednesday 13 July, is asked to contact Thames Valley Police.
