Wheatley given grant for flood prevention work

An Oxfordshire village where properties flooded in 2007 and 2008 has received government funding for flood prevention work.

A £20,000 grant from the Environment Agency will allow South Oxfordshire District Council to complete work at the eastern end of Wheatley.

The work is intended to help floodwaters flow quickly out of Wheatley Brook into the River Thame.

The improvements should be completed by March 2012.
