Racist graffiti scratched on cars in Oxford

Racist graffiti has been scrawled in permanent marker ink on buildings and scratched into cars in Oxford.

A swastika was scratched into the bonnet of a Ford Fiesta and KKK into the bonnet of a Citroen Xsara.

Both cars, which were parked in Cavell Road, were vandalised between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Swastikas were also drawn on a shop door and a Ford Transit van in Florence Park Road, between Thursday morning and Friday morning, police said.

A racist slogan was written on the walls and window of a property in Rymers Lane, between Thursday night and Friday.

Sgt Isaac van den Eshof, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Incidents of hate crime like this are rare but when they do happen we take them extremely seriously.

"We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and urge the community to come forward if they have any information about who may be responsible."

He said all four incidents are being linked so police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community.
