A foster carer from Oxfordshire has been jailed for six years for sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman.

David Winters, 67, of Nursery Drive, Banbury, was arrested in April 2010.

He pleaded not guilty but was convicted on 8 July of four counts of sexual assault over a number of years. He was jailed at Oxford Crown Court.

Det Con Mike West, from Thames Valley Police, said: "He held a position of trust that he violated when he sexually assaulted a vulnerable woman."

He added: "The victim and her family are pleased that this ordeal is now over and they can move on with their lives knowing that David Winters is now serving a lengthy custodial sentence."
