Lewknor house blaze causes roof collapse

A house in Oxfordshire has been wrecked by fire.

Crews from four stations were called to the property in Town Farm Close, Lewknor, on Thursday evening.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said as crews arrived, shortly after 17:00 BST, the roof of the building collapsed. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Firefighters were able to retrieve some of the residents' possessions and limit the worst of the damage to the roof and first floor.

Station manager Gary D'Anger said: "On arrival we were faced with a very well developed roof fire involving the whole of the roof area.

"The structural collapse of the roof caused additional hazards for the fire crews as there was the potential for further structural collapse of the building."
