Driver hurt in attempt to stop van theft in Banbury

A delivery driver fell from his moving van as he attempted to stop a thief from stealing the vehicle in Oxfordshire.

The 47-year-old man was delivering goods to Wimborne Avenue, Banbury, when a man got into the driver's seat of his Ford Transit on Tuesday afternoon.

He gave chase but fell from the moving van, suffering minor injuries, Thames Valley Police said.

The suspect is about 6ft tall and aged in his early 20s, with a shaved head.

He was wearing a dark hooded top, blue jeans and black gloves, police said.

The van, which was driven off along Orchard Way into Warwick Road, was located a short time later in Horley village.

Anyone with information about the theft, which occurred at about 14:00 BST, is asked to contact Thames Valley Police.
