Charges over fire at Oxford man's house

A man has been charged in connection with a house fire in Oxfordshire which left an elderly man needing medical treatment.

Firefighters and police were called to the blaze in Abbey Road, Oxford, in the early hours of 24 October.

Thames Valley Police said a 26-year-old man from Slough, Berkshire, was arrested on Tuesday.

He has been charged with one count of arson with intent to endanger life and one count of burglary.

The 77-year-old occupant of the house suffered burns and the effects of smoke inhalation and remains in Stoke Mandeville Hospital in a stable condition.
