Thames Valley Police introduce new 101 number

Thames Valley Police have introduced a new 101 number for non-emergency calls.

The service will be used to report crimes such as stolen cars or damaged property, but does not replace 999 for emergency calls.

It is part of a national campaign and all police forces in England and Wales are aiming to use the number by the end of January 2012.

Police said calls would be handled 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cost 15p from landlines and mobile phones.
