Oxfordshire betting shop raider steals money

A robber has stolen "several hundred pounds" from a betting shop in Oxfordshire.

The man, who was with a teenage girl, approached a female worker as she was opening up the Betfred bookmakers in Cinnaminta Road, Headington, Oxford.

He grabbed the woman and forced her into the shop before making her hand over money early on New Year's Eve.

Police believe a lime green saloon car seen nearby at the time may be linked to the robbery.

'Thick stubble'

Det Sgt Matt Jarman said: "Thankfully the female member of staff was not injured in the robbery, but was obviously shaken by the ordeal.

"I would be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle, or anyone who can provide us with information about its whereabouts."

The man is described as white, about 5ft 10ins, of a stocky build and had thick stubble.

He was wearing a green hooded anorak with the hood up and a pink beanie hat underneath.

The girl is described as being in her mid-teens, about 5ft and of small build.

She was wearing a black and grey coat and had a black scarf covering her face.
