Farm worker rescued from grain silo in Blewbury

A farm worker who was trapped and sinking inside a grain silo has been rescued by firefighters in Oxfordshire.

Crews were called to help the man in Blewbury, near Didcot, on Wednesday.

Station manager Bob Speakman said: "Grain is like quicksand and he was up to his chest and sinking with potential for life-threatening injuries."

The man, who had been working to remove grain from inside the silo, was described as "extremely lucky" to escape the ordeal.
