Man stabbed in robbery in Oxford

A man has been stabbed during a robbery by three men in an Oxford street.

The 23-year-old was walking in Rectory Road in the east of the city on Sunday evening when he was approached by the men.

One of the robbers produced a knife and a scuffle broke out, leaving the victim with a stab wound to his leg.

He also lost his mobile phone and wallet in the attack before raising the alarm at a friend's house. He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital.

The suspects left in the direction of Cowley Road.

The victim received stitches to the knife wound and is recovering at home.

Anyone who was in the area at about 17:30 GMT is urged to contact police.
