Student volunteer conference held in Oxford

A national conference on student volunteering and social action is being held in Oxford over the weekend.

The event, at Oxford Brookes University, enables students and professionals from all over the country to network and share best practice.

The third annual event will also see the launch of the Impact Network, which will help to link groups together.

Organiser, William Buck said students were best-placed to take the lead because they had the time to give.

"We feel that student volunteering has a really big part to play," he said.

"It's rewarding. I feel like I'm giving back to the community and it's challenging, it provides me with a challenge, which is a nice feeling."
