A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old was stabbed in the arm and stomach in Oxford.

The male victim underwent emergency surgery after being stabbed "several times" in the early hours of Sunday.

He was found by friends in Temple Street at about 01:30 GMT but police think he may have staggered there after being attacked elsewhere.

Thames Valley Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested on Monday and released on bail until 15 March.

Officers believe a fight broke out at the junction of St Clement's Street and The Plain and that the victim ran off along the Cowley Road.

Det Con Craig Burchall said: "We believe that three men were involved and we are actively looking to make two more arrests."
