Fire crews are still tackling a blaze at a farm in Oxfordshire after 500 tonnes of recycled timber caught fire early on Wednesday morning.

They were called to Prospect Farm at Chilton, near Didcot, where the wood was being stored for biofuel.

Officers spent the day and night trying to stop the flames from spreading to a nearby woodpile and surrounding hedgerows. Nobody has been hurt.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene throughout the day.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said that at the height of the fire it could be seen from the A34.

It urged drivers to take care where smoke was drifting across roads.
