An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Oxford.

Police were called on Saturday night to reports of a stabbing in St Martin's Road, Rose Hill.

The 29-year-old victim, named as Aaron Hency Buron, was taken to the city's John Radcliffe Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the incident, at about 23:25 BST, is asked to contact Thames Valley Police.

Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, from the force's major crime department, said: "The investigation is at a very early stage and we are working to establish what has happened."

Shane Washington, a friend of the victim, said: "I used to work with him and he had an excellent personality and always made you laugh.

"He was a real mate's mate and would go out of his way to ask you how you were when he'd see you in the street.

"It just doesn't make sense to think this has happened."
