Power restored to 3,000 Oxfordshire homes

Power has been restored to all 3,000 homes in Oxfordshire affected during the weekend's bad weather.

Southern Electric said homes in Chipping Norton, Wallingford and Henley-on-Thames now have power.

The faults occurred in Watlington at 07:00 BST and in Chipping Norton at about 08:30 BST on Sunday.

A flood alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to Oxford.

It says low lying land and roads could be affected but no property flooding is expected.

The weather forecast is to expect a mainly dry day on Monday, however heavy showers are expected overnight and into Tuesday.
