Police officers injured in crash near Banbury

A police officer has broken his leg and another officer has sustained head and rib injuries in a crash near Banbury.

The two Warwickshire police officers were en route to an emergency when their patrol car left the road, overturned and ended up in a ditch.

The crash happened on the A423, between Mollington and Great Bourton, just before 06:00 BST.

Fire crews cut the trapped driver free from the car while the passenger managed to crawl from the wreckage.

Both officers were taken to Horton General Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for four hours while police carried out investigations.

Officers have appealed for witnesses.
