Woman dies as car overturns in Oxford

A 26-year-old woman died when the car she was driving left the road, overturned and hit a tree in Oxford.

It happened in the early hours on the eastbound carriageway of the A40 northern bypass between the Marston and the Headington roundabouts.

The blue Volkswagen Golf was discovered in a ditch at about 01:00 GMT by a passing motorist.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.

PC Wayne Mill said: "It appears at this stage that this was the only vehicle involved in the incident but there were other motorists around at the time.

"I urge anyone who may have seen what happened, or the vehicle prior to the incident, to contact the police."
