A man armed with a knife has stolen money from a betting shop in Oxfordshire.

The raider entered Coral bookmakers in Ruscote Arcade, Banbury, just before 22:00 GMT on Saturday.

He threatened a staff member at the counter with the knife before demanding money, police said.

The assistant handed over an undisclosed sum and the man ran out of the shop. The worker was not injured but was left shaken and upset.

The offender was about 6ft-tall, wore black clothing and had his face covered. He turned left after leaving the shop.

Det Sgt Jim Holmes, of Thames Valley Police, said the offender may have been spotted by workers at the Co-op store in the same arcade which was closing at the time.
