Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in Oxfordshire.

Police were called by the ambulance service to an address at The Tower Centre in Alvescot Road, Carterton, shortly before 08:00 GMT.

The man has not yet been formally identified, but is said to have been in his 50s.

Two men, aged 48 and 59, and a woman, 27, are in custody. Police said inquiries were at a "very early stage".

Det Ch Insp Ian Hunter said: "A post-mortem is due to take place this evening, we have yet to complete a formal identification.

"Our priority is to ensure the victim's next of kin are informed as soon as possible.

"We continue to appeal for witnesses in the area or to anyone who may have information that would assist investigations to come forward."

One resident, Tony Doherty, said: "I'm just shocked it happened here."

Police forensic examinations have continued throughout the day and officers have been interviewing neighbours.

BBC reporter Nikki Mitchell said the block of flats was in a busy area close to the town centre.
