Laser pen shone at police helicopter over Oxfordshire

A laser pen has been shone at a police helicopter flying over Oxfordshire, prompting a warning from the force.

Thames Valley Police said its helicopter crew reported being targeted by someone shining a laser pen near the Witney A40 by-pass on 16 May.

No-one on board was injured. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Sgt Lianne Phillips said: "This is not just a childish prank - it could potentially cause the aircraft to crash."
