A junction in Oxfordshire is to be upgraded in a £10m scheme to ease congestion.

The A34 Milton Interchange will become a "hamburger" style roundabout with a carriageway through its centre.

The Department of Transport will pay £5m towards the works - the remaining funds will come from developers and the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Work is due to start in March and finish in February 2015.

Ian Hudspeth, leader of Oxfordshire County Council, said: "This is great news which has positive implications for the local economy.

"The county council has championed this scheme in order to enhance accessibility to the new Science Vale UK Enterprise Zone at Harwell and Milton Park.

"We will now speak with the Highways Agency in order to secure work which I believe will see one of the county's major traffic 'pinch points' become known for innovation, accessibility and success."
