Abingdon cyclist found with severe head injuries dies

A cyclist taken to hospital with severe head injuries after being found lying in an Oxfordshire road has died.

Police believe the man was involved in a collision before being found by a member of the public in Brumcombe Lane near Bayworth.

It is thought the 53-year-old Abingdon man had been cycling downhill towards Bayworth shortly before being found at about 07:30 BST on Monday.

He was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital where he died on Tuesday.

Police are now probing circumstances leading up to the man being found. It is not known whether anyone else was involved.

Brumcombe Lane was closed for several hours while officers forensically examined the scene.

Thames Valley Police is urging witnesses to come forward.
