A34 crash kills lorry driver during dead badger removal

A lorry driver has died in a crash that happened while police had slowed traffic to remove a dead badger.

The lorry collided with another vehicle on the A34 in Oxfordshire just after 03:00 GMT while officers were removing the animal from the road near Marcham.

The man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but died of his injuries, Thames Valley Police said.

The crash has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Both carriageways between Botley and Abingdon reopened at about 12:00. Police have appealed for witnesses.
