A £6.5m building containing a hotel, shops, restaurants and a library has been approved.

The final phase of Bicester's Pioneer Square development will also include council offices, with the 53-bedroom Travelodge topping off the five-storey complex.

Norman Bolster at Cherwell District Council said it would "rejuvenate the town outside of office hours".

Work begins later in the summer at Franklins Yard in St John's Street.

It is set to be completed in summer 2015.

To make way for the site some buildings to the rear of Sheep Street are to be demolished and the car park built over.
