Residents were evacuated from their homes when an unexploded World War Two shell was discovered in a garage in Oxfordshire.

It was found on Salt Lane, in Postcombe, near Thame, where eight homes were affected.

A road cordon has since been lifted. Thames Valley Police said an Army bomb disposal unit was also at the scene.

Officers said the shell was being taken to "a rural location for a controlled explosion".
