Overturned lorry blocks A34 at Abingdon

An overturned lorry on the A34 in Oxfordshire has caused long delays for motorists.

The lorry crashed on the southbound carriageway near Abingdon, shortly after 04:00 GMT.

Police closed the road southbound from Abingdon North and Marcham, diverting traffic via Abingdon.

The fire service dealt with a chemical leak from the lorry following the crash. The road reopened shortly after 15:00.

The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

Delays of over an hour reported by the Highways Agency while diversions were in place.
