Two men have been charged with public order offences following demonstrations in Oxford.

A 49-year-old of Kidlington, and a man, 24, from Bristol, were charged with using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

On Saturday, an English Defence League (EDL) march took place in the city. A counter demonstration was also held by Unite Against Fascism (UAF).

Scuffles broke out in Bonn Square and a police officer was injured.

He suffered minor head injuries when he was struck by a missile.

The two men are due to appear before Oxford Magistrates' Court on 12 May.

A third man was arrested but released without charge.
