A woman stabbed the boyfriend she was cheating on to death during a drunken row on a canal boat, a court heard.

Natasha Elderfield, 41, originally from Faringdon, denies murdering Robert Dobinson on her boat.

Mr Dobinson, 33, from Faringdon, was found at a mooring area near Bridge Street in Abingdon last October.

Oxford Crown Court heard Ms Elderfield had been having an affair with another man and was confronted by the victim after she had been drinking.

The prosecution said the couple started to physically fight and she used a five inch kitchen knife to stab Mr Dobinson in the chest and one of the palms of his hands.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital but died from his injuries.

Natasha Elderfield denies murder.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
