A 1980s office block in Oxfordshire that has been empty for several years is to be turned into council housing.

Cherwell District Council has entered into a long-term lease on Town Centre House in Southam Road, Banbury, which will be converted into 39 one and two bedroom flats.

The authority has secured more than £1m in grants from the Homes and Community Agency to fund the refurbishment.

The new homes will be allocated through the council's housing register.
