A crowdfunding project to create a permanent John Piper gallery in his former home of Henley-on-Thames has been launched.

The town's River and Rowing Museum is hoping to celebrate the English artist - who died in 1992 - and his career.

Piper was a painter, printmaker, and designed stained-glass windows, theatre sets and even fireworks

A museum spokeswoman said it hoped the gallery would celebrate the artist's "diverse creative output".
