Twyford Mill Bridge shuts for repairs
A "deteriorating" 185-year-old bridge near Reading has closed while two months of repair work is carried out.
Twyford Mill Bridge which links Charvil to Twyford has shut while a "concrete saddle" is built to strengthen it for modern loads, the borough council said.
The bridge will also be waterproofed during the work which is expected to be completed by 31 July.
It is taking place in summer because the River Lodden level is lower.
Diversions are in place, and the work will also affect Courtney Buses and Arriva bus services.
Pedestrians and cyclists will have access across the bridge during the work, and residents and businesses will also be able to access their properties, Wokingham Borough Council said.
