Fresh hope over threatened Much Wenlock care home

A number of organisations and individuals hopeful of taking over a Shropshire nursing home have come forward, a charity chief has said.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, which runs the The Lady Forester Community Nursing Home, in Much Wenlock, has said it is consulting over closing the home.

Chief executive Nick Abbey has said he is open to suggestions from organisations who wish to take it over.

The charity's consultation period will end on 31 July.

Mr Abbey has said he will write to residents when the consultation period is over and let them know what plans, if any, are in place.

The trust also runs the Forester's Court Sheltered Housing Scheme in the town.

The decision to hold the review was taken because the home had been operating at a loss of more than £336,000 and the nursing home requires £2m of repairs.
