More deliberate fires on Telford estates

Firefighters have been dealing with more deliberate fires on neighbouring estates in Shropshire.

Crews started patrols of Brookside in Telford after four incidents in three nights where bins and a dumped sofa were set alight.

In the latest incidents, rubbish in Brookside was set alight along with two wheelie bins in nearby Woodside and grass fires in Dawley and Malinslee.

Patrols will continue and crews will look out for fly tipping.

Five fires were started involving camper vans and cars last weekend.

"We have our risk reduction officers patrolling the area on bikes looking for unusual behaviour or educating the public and also looking for any fly tipping which can be a problem obviously sofas and things can be ignited," a spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
