Supermarket sale covers new Telford offices

New council offices for a Shropshire borough will be paid for by selling the existing site to a supermarket.

Asda agreed to buy Telford and Wrekin Council's out-of-town office site in 2009.

Earlier this year, the council agreed to move its offices to the proposed Southwater Lake.

Up to £250m is being spent on the lake development. The council said the new office would be much cheaper to run but would not comment on how much it cost.
