Market Drayton A529 due to reopen after two months

A Shropshire road, which has been closed for two months, will reopen at lunchtime on Wednesday.

The A529 in Market Drayton will reopen a week earlier than planned.

It has been closed to traffic since 10 January to enable major repairs to be carried out to the wall which retains the Old Grammar School's garden.

A spokesman for Shropshire Council said the road was not due to reopen until 18 March after additional repair work to the wall was identified.

But he added the council's contractor has been able to complete the work sooner than originally anticipated.
