Shropshire girl with asthma died of natural causes

A nine-year-old girl who collapsed in a car on her way to an asthma clinic died of natural causes relating to a heart condition, a coroner has ruled.

Kayleigh Hunt had been staying with her father Gareth in Ketley Bank, Telford, Shropshire, when she began wheezing.

Kayleigh, who was diagnosed with asthma aged five, had her inhaler with her.

She passed out and died in hospital on 20 November 2010. Later investigations revealed she had an undiagnosed heart condition, the inquest heard.

Speaking after the hearing at Telford and Wrekin Coroner's Court, her mother Julie said the family was disappointed not to find out exactly what had killed Kayleigh.

The nine-year-old had been a pupil at St Peter's Church of England Controlled Primary School in Bratton, Telford.
