Jobs at risk at Minsterley Uniq Desserts factory

Chilled dessert manufacturer Uniq has announced 85 management and production roles at its factory in Minsterley, Shropshire, may have to go.

Uniq Desserts employs about 590 people at the site.

The firm say they have lost a "significant" amount of business to competitors which they have been unable to replace.

Employees and their representatives are being consulted over voluntary redundancy, a spokesman said.

Managing director Steve Hill said: "I do appreciate that today's announcement will cause a great deal of concern and uncertainty for everyone at the site.

"However our main priority now will be to work with those employees potentially affected to try and lessen the impact of the proposed redundancies, and where necessary, help them secure alternative employment."
