Charity ride as Shropshire cycle route opens

An eight-mile cycle route following the track bed of the old Severn Valley railway has been officially launched as part of a charity bike ride.

Severn Hospice's Daffodil Ride was combined with the route opening from Coalport to Bridgnorth in Shropshire.

People were riding for six (10km) or 12 miles (19km) on Sunday's initiative.

Shropshire Council has been involved in the new route, which is part of the Mercian Way cycle route from Salisbury, Wiltshire, to Chester.
