Charity hands over £250K for elderly in Much Wenlock

A charity which owned a Shropshire nursing home has given a £250,000 cheque to a trust which tries to help elderly people.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust had promised the money to the Much Wenlock area in recognition of cash raised by the community.

The charity sold the Lady Forester home to English Care last year.

The recently-formed Much Wenlock Forester Charitable Trust, which has five trustees, has received the cheque.

Its purpose has been defined as "to relieve financial hardship, sickness and poor health amongst elderly people resident in and around Much Wenlock".
