Church Stretton crash pair thrown from motorcycle

A man and a woman suffered "serious" injuries when the motorcycle they were riding was involved in a crash with a car in Church Stretton.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision between a silver Audi A4 estate and a blue Suzuki motorbike.

It happened at the Crossways junction with the A49 at 1410 BST on Sunday.

A spokeswoman said the male rider and female pillion passenger of the bike, both in their 50s, were thrown off.

She said the man suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke on Trent.

The woman suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Both are understood to be in a serious but stable condition.

The female driver of the Audi, who is in her 60s, was not injured in the crash.
