Wem CCTV system improved after grant

A CCTV system in a Shropshire town is being improved.

A £400 grant from the police authority will enable a camera at the back of the town hall to be linked to Wem's main system, West Mercia Police said.

The camera belonging to Thomas Adams School, which took over the town hall management in 2010, monitors a busy thoroughfare in Wem.

Police said the CCTV system, which was developed in 2009, was owned by the town council.

It was developed from a working partnership between police and the town council, with Shropshire Council also providing some funding, the West Mercia force added.
