Shrewsbury Town supporters in chart bid

A band of football supporters has released a cover of Shrewsbury Town's run out tune.

Shropshire covers band Hello Cleveland! has launched their version of Catch Us If You Can.

The song originally reached number five in the UK charts for the Dave Clarke Five when it was released in 1965.

The four piece group will be hoping to reach the top 40 while raising money for Shropshire charity Hope House Children's Hospice.

The release on Sunday has won the support of the football club.

'Great work'

Ian Whitfield, spokesman for Shrewsbury Town, said: "This song is part of our history... It doesn't take as many sales as it used to to get into the charts and I think all Town supporters would be proud to see their song in the top 40."

The band consists of bassist Neil Hambley, lead guitarist Verge Madeley, drummer Stuart Carrol and singer Chris Allen.

Mr Allen said: "This single release isn't really about the band itself, it is about getting some national recognition for Shrewsbury Town and raising some much needed funds for Hope House and the great work they do there."

All profits from sales of the song will be donated to the charity which cares for seriously ill children and their families.
