80s pop concert at The Quarry in Shrewsbury cancelled

An 80s concert due to be held in a Shropshire park in the summer has been cancelled, organisers say.

Marc Almond from Soft Cell, Kim Wilde, and Kid Creole had been due to perform at The Quarry in Shrewsbury on 15 July.

The concert was first held five years ago but now organisers IML Concerts said they have had to cancel this year's event due to circumstances beyond their control.

People who bought tickets will be reimbursed, a spokesman said.

'Full refund'

In a statement, IML said: "IML Concerts regret the cancellation of the show at The Quarry as it has enjoyed a series of excellent evenings since our very first show in 2006."

The company said it was "naturally disappointed that we have had to cancel a show for the first time".

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to ticket-holders who will receive a full refund from the point of purchase.

"We have asked each box office to contact ticket-holders which they are conducting over the next 24 hours."
